Let's all go nude!!!!!

Where is your mind at?  I'm talking about lipsticks silly.  Yes, the new fashion trend (well not really new, but very, very popular) this coming season is a nude lip or a red lip.  It seems like extremes doesn't it?  Anyways, just want to say, and this is important to say, NOT ALL NUDE LIPSTICK HAS TO BE THE COLOR NUDE!!!  What makes a nude lipstick truly nude is how it looks on YOU.  So, if you are darker skin toned, you are not going for the light beigy nude lipstick.  That is going to make you look sick!  Or, if you are olive skin toned, you may go for more of a peachy lip color to achieve the nude lip look.  See, the secret to a great nude lip is if it adds vibrancy to your face.  If you try a lip color and you look sick, or void of color, it's not the right shade.  Let's help you out shall we?  It should be noted that we went to our friends from Us Weekly and InStyle magazine to get just the right pics to show you the differences in nude lipsticks.  Enjoy!!

You will notice that Rachel's lipcolor has a peachy tone.  It brings out the color in her face and compliments the color in her hair.  If she were wearing a very beige color it may wash out her face!

Is your complexion a light brown?  Jordin's nude lip has a bit of brown/plum in it.  It's not overbearing at all and compliments her skintone perfectly.

For fair toned ladies, a hint of pink in your lip screams perfection!

Do you have a tawny complexion?  Try a color with a hint of orange!  Notice how her lips are not overstated and it looks as though that could actually be the color of her lip just enhanced?  That's the goal you are going for.

Olive skin tone?  A great nude lip look has some red and pink in it.  Brings out the color in your face and you will notice, allows for the eyes to shine!!  When you look at this pic, I see eyes!  Nude lips are great paired with an accented eye makeup look.  Btw - olive skin tones can wear that beigy color as well - just sayin.

Darker skin tone - go for a gloss with a hint of color.  In this example, Gabrielle went for a pinky neutral tone.  A bit of shimmer is nice too.

Question for you ladies.  Is this a nude lipstick tone?

The answer is YES!!!  Who would wear it?  Our darker toned sisters that's who.  So when we say that a nude lipstick is not just beige or a light lipstick, we're serious.  What is nude for one may not be nude for another so consider the following  when you are choosing a nude lipstick for yourself:

1.  What is my skin tone?

2.  What is the undertone of my lip?

3.  Does the color compliment my whole look that I'm trying to achieve?

A knowledgeable makeup artist will be able to help you choose a great nude lip color that is right for you.

Let me ask you a question and ponder it - some of you will get it and some won't but that's ok.

When you look in the mirror after a shower and you look at your nude skin, what color do you see?  Not all nudes are created equal.

Yours in beauty,

Pink Ink

p.s.  when sporting a nude lip it is best to go with a fierce eye makeup look.  just an fyi.

Concealers - NICE!!

This post won't be long but it will be strong.  A little while ago we did a Tip of the day post on facebook called Concealer - A girl's best friend.  Many of us do not have perfect skin - but we can sure look like we do!  Concealers help to mask the imperfections that we all have.  You can use them to brighten under the eye area, to cover acne/bruising, or to even out your skin tone. The first thing that we must know and understand is to know when to use which color of concealer.  To help with this, let's take a look at the colour wheel.

\

So the trick is to choose the color of concealer that is opposite of the color of the issue you are trying to hide.  For example, peach/pink toned concealers cover blue under eye circles; green toned concealers cover redness (especially good to cover acne); and yellow toned concealers help even out uneven skin tones.

Another special tip - did you know that the right use of a concealer can shave 5lbs off of your face?  It is called contouring.  If you go to youtube there are thousands of videos to show you step by step how to effectively contour your face.  However, if you think of dark receding and light bringing forward.  The correct placement of each of these colours of concealer (light and dark) can provide the illusion of a thinner you.  I grabbed a pic from the internet to show you what I mean:

Same girl, beautiful before and after.  Her face just looks more sculpted and, well, smaller after using the concealer.  Please note that I am not saying that smaller or thinner is better.  I am saying, that there are many women who would like to be able to conceal certain attributes of their faces for whatever reason.  I'm just showing you how.  There are so many things we can do with concealers and so many tricks to share!

Visit back for more tips and tricks using the tool of makeup next week!  Or, if you just can't wait and want to know more contact us and we will share our tips and tricks with you.  email us at info@pinkinkimage.com.
If you want to share your question with the world, we will do a weekly blog on your most pressing questions about makeup and style.  We can't do them all at one time but we will choose two or three burning questions and answer them for you right here!

Have a beautiful day beautiful!!

"POP" that color

If you were on our facebook page yesterday (www.facebook.com/pinkinkimage) you would have seen that we talked about having a pop of color in your makeup look.  Specifically, we talked about red lips.  For some, red lipstick is the norm.  For others it's like HECK NO!!!  And then for others it's more, I would, but red lipstick doesn't look good on me.  For me, if I'm honest, I was in the third group for a long time.  I think I was into my late twenties before I even attempted red lipstick.  But then I realized, not all red lipstick is the same.  I started to study undertones of skin and undertones of colors and then studied how to match them all up.  Well, I won't bore you with the details, BUT I will give you the Coles Notes versions with pics!  Know this, there is that perfect red out there made for you!  Just check out below.

Fair skin tone with a cool undertone (pink) - go for a raspberry red!

Fair skin tone with red hair; Medium skin tone with yellow undertone; Tan with warm undertone - go for an orange red!

Golden skin tone  - deep berry/plum red!

Medium skin tone with neutral undertone; dark skin tone with warm undertone - blue-red will look great on you!

Tan with neutral - anything (lucky you!)

Dark with cool undertone - Metallic reds and plums

This is not an exhaustive list and it truly could go on and on but at least you have a starting place.

We interrupt your reading pleasure to ensure that we don't get sued or called out:  PINK INK DID NOT PROVIDE MAKEUP FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE IMAGES.  PINK INK DOES NOT OWN ANY OF THE ABOVE IMAGES.  Just had to make it clear.  We googled the images so that we could provide you with examples.  Now, back to the blog.

Hopefully we have given you a starting place.  Oops, said that already.  Go to the store, or call up your beauty consultant and try some different colors.  Feel sexy in it and you will feel confident in it.  Then go out and conquer the world girl!!!  Who knew lipstick had such power - lol

Red Carpet Styles

So in the midst of all of the Face of Pink Ink hype we have some other stuff going on like... hmm, let me see, A RED CARPET GALA!!!!!  Yes, in the midst of all the hoopla in searching and finding the perfect three to represent our company (very hard choice by the way), we are also planning a gala event with one of last year's FOPI winners, the one and only, Sara Clarke (owner of the London Mompreneurs).

A question that many are asking is "What do I wear?"  A comment that we frequently hear "I don't do dresses".  Well, I figure we will incorporate something for everyone here.  Some gala dresses, the little black dress and the dressed up black pant.  Yes, you CAN wear pants to the Red Carpet Affair as long as you what?  ACCESSORIZE!!!  Let's begin with the traditional glam.

Little Black Dress
The Little Black Dress can bring you to the office and out to the gala if you accessorize and change up your makeup!

Ok, now let's go for some untraditional glam.  The dress pant at a gala event.  We see this more and more these days and let me tell you, the ladies who rock a pant outfit at a gala are uber confident and look simply AMAZING!!! I mean, you would have to if you are going to break the mold - lol.  Seriously though, the key to looking glam in dress pants is dressing it up with bling, killer shoes and a rockin makeup look.  The bling could be sequins on the top or in your jewelry.  Also, sheer anything on top will dress up any outfit!!  Check it out.

As for the bling!  You leave that to us.
Remember, the first fifty ladies to walk through the doors at Ladies Night Out - A Red Carpet Affair will be jeweled for the evening by a special guest with Park Lane.  Let's just show you what type of treats we're talking about.

I could go on but... I'd get in trouble.  So, now the question is, how to put it all together.  Don't you worry.  We've got you covered.  We're having a makeup and jewelry night on September 26th and we have scheduled a few nights to try on dresses from Carmina de Young and Juniper!  All prior to the Red Carpet Gala.  AND we have a few other surprises up our sleeves for you ladies.
Why are we doing this?  We LOVE women!!
We want to see you in all of your glory and, let's be honest, we needed an excuse to dress up.

Can't wait to see you.  Contact us today!  If you want us to contact you with details on the Red Carpet Event or the mini-events leading up to the MAIN event, leave us a message below or on facebook.
We will get back to you within 48hrs!

Diva On A Dollar

{this post was written by Shelly of 100Things2Do.  All opinions expressed are her own}

Ever wondered what "Diva on a Dollar" is really about?

Ever wondered if it was for you?

Ever wondered if it was worth it? (the time, the money, the energy etc)?

Well, Diva went to Collingwood last weekend and transformed the lives of several women in a one-day workshop.
Guests ranged in age, size, career, family - but they all had one thing in common
they all wanted to learn how to be the 'best them' they could be.

Enter Rita & Jen and a day of learning, laughter and rejuvenation.

The morning started out with a light breakfast and then an impromptu dance party to wake up and let loose.

Each guest was surprised with the most adorable treat box which included a lipstick pen and lip shaped post-it pad.
SO Pink Ink!

The soon-to-be Diva's learned everything from defining their body shape and face shape,

to which hair style would accentuate your features and learning to dress to emphasize what you've got.

This is not a cult initiation, it's our mid-morning break and "groove session" - Thank you Becca for teaching everyone the latest craze in working out!

There were tutorials on how to dress for various events and audiences and guests even did an impromptu shopping session to make sure that what was learned could be replicated at home.

The late afternoon session focused on make-up.
Two looks - professional and glamour - with hands on practice and assistance.

Where else can you get this kind of comprehensive program?
Something that completely shifts your image into overdrive.

I feel confident that every single Diva that completed the program will affirm - that this program is more than worth the time, energy and money.

I'll be back to share the photos of the guests (with their permission of course) - but the ladies at Pink Ink would like to send out a special thank you to their amazing event sponsors:

Keri from Plexus Slim

(Who also made the adorable treat boxes!)

Peggy from ENJO

and Shelley from Zipsessory.

Check back tomorrow to see the amazing results of this amazing program!
