Feel good article about Bullying. Really?

The goal of Pink Ink is to provide women (all people really) an opportunity to feel good every
Wednesday morning when they wake up and read our blog.  So how does an article about bullying achieve this?  Please read on to find out.

The Oxford Dictionary defines the term "bully" as the use of superior strength of influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something.  Often times when we think of bullying we think of that kid in school who was/is physically bigger than most of the other kids on the school yard or who, for some reason, had/has a crew of kids around them to carry out their every mean spirited demand.  We all knew/know that kid (the bully), who teased the other kids for being different or seemed to always try to hurt other people's feelings.  For some of us, we were/are that bully.  However, we do not often think about our friends, work associates or family members as bullies because they are supposed to care about us right? No matter who is doing the bullying the result is often the same, the bullied person often feels a little less good about themselves and I would hazard a guess that the bully is not truly feeling good about themselves either.

As women who work primarily with women, we see the after effects of bullying on the self esteem of the hundreds of women we encounter in our business.  Beautiful women on the inside scared to show who they are on the outside.  These women are so incredibly bright, quick witted and full of ideas and dreams.  We see women who smile outwardly but are crying inwardly.  One of the questions we often ask ourselves is why are there so many woman who feel small inside or undervalued when they obviously have so much to give?  More often than not, that woman has been hurt by someone - even bullied.  Do we have an answer for the growing epidemic of bullying?  No.  We do have a message for all of the bullies and the bullied though.

No matter what anyone has told you, done to you, does to you or how you may feel about yourself - YOU ARE VALUABLE.  There is no one else in this world like you.  You were created with specific gifts and talents to show the world and you cannot let ANYONE'S bad behavior
prevent you from shining your light and making a difference in this world.  Are we all Oprah's?  I would say yes.  Let me explain what I mean.  Oprah has been voted to be one of the most influential, philanthropic, individuals in the world.  She can say she read a book today and millions will go read that book.  She will make a comment about meat - positive or negative - and sales are affected.  Why?  Because she has touched millions of lives in some way that has made them feel good about themselves.  Did she start out different than you or I? Nope.  You have the same abilities she started with.  So when I ask you, are you like an Oprah Winfrey your answer should be yes.  Not
because you necessarily strive to be her but because although you may not have the influential power of Oprah to affect millions (heck, you just might if you follow your dreams) you do have the influential power to affect one person in your life.  Your influence on that one, can affect another, and then another, and then another etc...  You are an Oprah to someone and you just might not know it.  Even better, you are insert your name here  - we better recognize!!!!

Now here is the plug!!!  Pink Ink along with Silent Poetry and Flying Unlimited are hosting a concert  - Youth on Fire - Weird and Proud - on November 16th in London, Ontario, to help raise money for the London Anti-Bullying Coalition.  An organization that works to develop policies in our schools and help protect our children from being bullied.  The women involved in bringing this concert to this community have worked

tirelessly to ensure that you will be entertained and educated about the issue of bullying.  You can expect to see Marc Trinidad, Saidat, Brooklyn Roebuck, Austin Pryce, Sounds in Motion Dance Performance Troupe and Holly Painter with special appearances by the Faces of Pink Ink , Miss Teen Canada, https://www.facebook.com/.../Miss-Teen-Canada...Celina-Rivas-Vasquez/...‎Celina RivasVasquez and the story of a survivor - Sara Clarke.
You will be wowed by our feature performer, London's own hidden gem, Victoria Zubick!   Your support is needed.  Please contact Jen at Pink Ink, Kamini at Silent Poetry, Yvette at Flying Unlimited or tickets.ticketwindow.ca for tickets or if you want to help in a financial way contact Yvette from Flying Unlimited.

Thank you for reading. We greatly appreciate your support.  However, what would make the Pink Ink ladies smile is if you ensure to  shine your light.  Remember, there is no other light quite like yours and it is valuable to all who see it.

Peace, love and beauty,

The Pink Ink Ladies.

Out with the Old, in with the New!

Okay ladies. I would like you to take a moment for yourself -- (you can do it)! Find yourself a mirror. Take a look at your lovely face - your hair - your attire. And ask yourself this thought provoking question: are
you still wearing the same makeup look that you did in high school or during your early university days? How about your clothing? Has your style progressed at all? And your hair -- is your hairstyle dated?

If you answered "ummmmm.....well......"to any of these questions, I am going to ask you straight up - how come? No matter what, unless you are still 18 or 22, if your makeup is the same as it was 10+ years ago, it is not going to look the same on your face now as it did 10+ years ago.  No way.  No how.  You are a more mature woman now (embrace it). And with that wonderful realization comes the true facts that our skin has changed and will continue to change.  As we grow older, we are starting to have less 'vibrant' skin--and it is likely a bit more textured than the smooth, plump, dynamic faces of our youth.  Side bar - you can help this process by adopting a really good skin care routine - cleanse, tone, moisturize.  It's best to stick with one brand when choosing your skin care products as they were made to work optimally together!

And our hair also has changed. Especially if you've had children.  For some our hair is curlier, straighter, thinner or thicker.  Our bodies embrace change so allow your mind to embrace it too!

Not only have our bodies, faces, and hair matured, but styles have changed and evolved too! The more we stick to our old styles, the older we look. For real. I'll give you one very broad example that is true in 9 out of 10 cases: Thick black eye-liner does not work on most mature women. It can make eyes seem smaller and highlight the lines around the eyes.  This look is aging you!!! (and no we are not pointing to anyone in particular but you all know who you are - smile).  Do not worry though.  They say that the best way to make a change is to admit the problem.  Then fix the problem.  Never too late to make improvements in our lives - inside or out.

If you need any help updating your look and honing in your brand, you know we are here to help!

Until next week - Yours in Beauty,

Jen & Rita

Why Wednesdays?

Have you noticed that Pink Ink comes out with a new blog posting every Wednesday?  Want to know why?  Wednesday is personally our favorite day of the week.  Why?  Well, by Wednesday we've successfully made it through half of the week and then there is only half a week to go until the weekend!!!  AND by mid-week many of us need a little boost - a pick me up.  We, at Pink Ink always want you to feel good and be smiling after you read our blogs.  We strongly believe that when you feel good you are more confidant to go
out there and accomplish great things.  We are proud to say that we have a strong faith and firmly believe
that when the creator created you He only created you!  There is no one else in this world who is like you or who has your unique gifts and talents.  What we all need to do is show the world who we are and what we are made of!  The saddest thing we have ever heard is that the richest place in the world is the graveyard.  Why?  Because that is where too many dreams and inventions never invented rest.  They died with the people who were too fearful to take a risk on themselves and live their dreams or create their inventions.  Can you imagine?  Pink Ink - the company - is a dream created by three women who wanted
more for themselves and for women out in the world.  We know and can see the gifts in each woman we meet.  Our mission is to encourage you to look and feel your best so that you can accomplish great things.  You are who you say you are so say this "I'm unique.  I'm beautiful.  I'm smart and I love myself enough to believe that I can accomplish anything if I believe I can."  Now, go out there, dream, develop a plan and execute!  We can't wait to see what you can do with a little belief in yourself.
Please write us and tell us about your goals and we will agree with you on them.  We love y'all and just want to be that constant voice in your ears encouraging you to success.  From a line in the movie "The Help" this is what we want you to know - You are smart.  You are kind.  You are important.  Until next Wednesday - Dream Big!!  xoxo

Yours in Beauty,
Jen & Rita

Fashion Diva in 5 Easy Steps

Who dictates what style is anyways?  Are you one of those ladies who does not want to be defined by “a” look?  I mean, look at all the different styles that are out there!?  There is the “goth” look described as dark, mysterious, and exotic and on the opposite end of the spectrum there is the Classic look described as
timeless and beautiful yet simple.  Then there is everything in between - punk, glam, diva, haut couture, conservative, vintage and the list goes on and on and on.  So I suppose that the best question to ask yourself is "What is my style?"  Whatever it is, there are five key elements to pulling off a style that will leave others wanting to see more.  Here are Pink Ink's top five personal style moves that every woman can achieve no matter what style or styles she may be:

1.        Is your hair coiffed? – run a comb through your mane.  Trust me, it makes a difference.  Treat yourself and get a wash and blowout.  There's nothing like someone rubbing your scalp - heavenly!
2.       Is your makeup on point? - At least wear the basics – foundation, blush, mascara, gloss.  Putting in an effort always puts you one step ahead of your competition (as we discussed last week!)
3.    Do you smell fresh? – B.O. is a huge no no.  Enough said.
4.      Do you look clean? – Ensure your nails are clean. Iron your clothes - nothing cute about wrinkles.  Wash your face - crusty eyes, day old liner and mascara under the eyes etc... - you know how it looks on others - don't let that be you.  Ensure your clothes are clean and not ripped (unless that’s the style).
5.   Make sure your clothes fit. – too big =frumpy; too small =bursting (need I say more?)
Part of creating your brand is honing down on your image.  Follow the above five tips and no matter what look you are trying to create – it will be memorable – for the right reasons!

Does Makeup Really Matter?

How often have you heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder?  Or outer beauty is superficial and it is what is on the inside that counts etc, etc, etc…  I’m here to tell you that even though the inner self is extremely important and vital to a thriving business and a thriving you – when you are in business and have to present yourself to sell a product – makeup DEFINITELY matters.  It is important to sell yourself before you can sell a product.  Do you have to be made up like J-lo or Kim Kardashian?  No.  But you do have to look like you put in some effort.
Let me ask you something.  Why should I give you my hard earned money or even my valuable time if you have not taken the time to put yourself together?  If you are not going to invest in yourself, why should you expect anyone else to invest in you?

Check out some of the pics published on this blog entry.  All of these women are beautiful without makeup.  But which image are you drawn to?  The before or the after?  Which image do you want representing you?  The before or after?  Which image do you want to do business with?  The before or the after?

Does investing in yourself have to cost a lot of money?  No, it doesn’t have to.  For those of us who are on a budget there are some very good makeup products out there that are very wallet friendly.  Contact us and we will provide you with recommendations!

So, what are the must-haves that should be in every women’s makeup drawer to help bring out the image you want to portray?  Here are some of Pink Ink's favorites:
1.  Mascara – WE LOVE the Ultimate mascara from Mary Kay as well as the latest mascara - a long story mascara - from Arbonne.  They are ‘DA BOMB’!
2.  Foundation – There are a number of great foundations out there – liquid, crème to powder, mousse and mineral powder.  Depending on the type of coverage you want will determine the type that’s best for you.  WE LOVE liquid.  Pink Ink has a hi-def brand of foundation that's to die for!  Mary Kay has amazing creme to powder foundations.  MAC's foundation is pretty good but a bit heavy.  Hint - get the MAC Select Cover Up and mix with Strobe Moisturizer - perfect blend of moisturization and coverage.  Please remember that whatever foundation you choose, make sure to match it to your skin color.  If it disappears - it is the right one! Call us, we will help!
3.  Gloss – a bit of color on the lips is always a great enhancer for the face.  Do you want long lasting coverage and the perfect hint of color?  Check out MAC, Pink Ink and Alouette  - they have some great choices.

4.  Blush/Bronzer – We think blush makes the face come alive. Arbonne, Mary Kay, Pink Ink and MAC have some great blush choices.  To tell the truth, we have yet to meet a blush we did not like.

Depending on your budget will depend on what you invest in, however, be sure to make the investment.

As you can tell, we are strong supporters of cosmetic companies sold by women like you and me.  The Direct Marketing companies like Seacret, Aloette, Mary Kay and Arbonne have some great color cosmetics as well as skin care.    We recommend them so that we can support small business in our community.  You will see that this blog has a number of highlighted words.  All of the words are linked to a small business primarily in London and area but also as far west as Alberta!!  It's Small Business month so go out and find your local Direct Sales Consultant that can help you find the perfect colors and skin care.  If you need help finding someone, let us know, we will link you up (no pun intended)!

Pink Ink is here to teach you and guide you to help you put your best foot forward always.  Contact us today so that we can show you how to apply your makeup like a pro!  Remember, Image is your Brand.
