Hey! Wardrobe Capsule Over Here!! Check it Out!!

We throw around the terms "capsule wardrobe", "wardrobe capsule" and "Glam-capsule" a lot here on the blog.  Perhaps you've heard the term elsewhere and didn't know what the heck people were talking about or referring to - so let's start this post with "What is a capsule wardrobe?"

Capsule wardrobe:  The term is widely used in the British and American fashion media, and has been the subject of several popular television series. The term has come to refer to a collection of clothing which is designed using only interchangeable items, in order to maximize the number of outfits which can be created. The aim is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning excessive items of clothing. This is usually achieved by buying what are considered to be "key" or "staple" items in coordinating colours.  ~Wikipedia

This concept is at its most effective when you minimize the contents of your closet to a few key pieces that have the versatility to coordinate and create several different outfits.  The idea behind it is not to have a closet full of clothing, but to have a 'capsule' of fashionable and functional pieces that will create numerous looks, thus saving you space and money - without sacrificing style.

Perhaps you've seen "travel capsules" on Pinterest - where people have come up with combinations of 6 or 7 pieces that will see you through your entire vacation if mixed and matched properly.

So, if someone could show you say 25 articles of clothing (including accessories) that would make a minimum of 35 outfits - would you be interested in learning more?
What if they actually sent you a message each day detailing what outfit to wear and how to accessorize it?
What if they took into consideration your body-type when putting these outfits together - so that you weren't leaving the house looking like a sausage stuffed into a tween outfit?

What would that kind of advice save you - money-wise, time-wise, embarrassment/confidence-wise?

Now you understand the concept of a capsule wardrobe, and the benefits of participating in a program put on by professional stylists.
